AVP One-Day Workshop: Restorative Justice Practices and AVP

The plans to offer this program on site at DOC Graterford, a maximum security prison, have been cancelled, and, while deeply disappointed that this was not possible, we are pleased to announce the workshop will take place at Temple University, and is planned in consultation with the AVP and RJ facilitating team at DOC Graterford.

 Barbara Toews, with more than 22 years experience as Restorative Justice practitioner, trainer, and author, has created and facilitated restorative justice programs in Pennsylvania prisons and founded the Lancaster (PA) Victim-Offender Reconciliation Program.  Barb will partner with Elizabeth Linehan, R.S.M., AVP facilitator at DOC Graterford, in offering an experiential program of restorative justice practices with application to AVP workshops.

 Participants will explore restorative justice through real life case studies, including a group role play, and will consider the ways in which restorative justice challenges us as AVP facilitators.  In the afternoon, participants will apply restorative justice practices to AVP activities.

 The workshop is limited to 30 participants.  Workshop fee is $50 and includes lunch.

AVP was introduced in three schools in Philadelphia, amiddle school, a four-year high school, and a new ninth-grade-only start-uphigh school.  The morning program willhost a panel of teachers and high school students, sharing in creative waystheir experiences and reflections.  Theafternoon program will offer an opportunity for AVP facilitators/educational leaders from a variety of locations to sharetheir vision of bringing AVP to schools.

The Workshop fee is $50 and includes lunch.
